We have launched a side-project at Huxley, called Worthing & Beyond.
Worthing & Beyond is an online database / magazine that lists, promotes and engages with creatives in Worthing, and sometimes beyond! All of this is with the aim of connecting local businesses to local talent, to encourage mutually beneficial relationships, and stop work going to London or Brighton agencies unnecessarily. Any individual, collective or creative business can request to be listed by sending a request via this form.
We are giving our time and web development resources to it for two main reasons:
- We are excited by creativity and keen to do our bit for Worthing.
- It’s an interesting and exciting way to promote Huxley.
The idea came from Tom’s (Creative Director here) previous experience at food brand Lick.
The Lick brand was a product of the people of Brighton – its customers and friends. Over it’s 8 years in existence, dozens of local artists, illustrators, designers, video makers, musicians and makers of all sorts had contributed in some way to the identity of the Lick, and largely as a result of it becoming so unique in it’s marketing output, became a successful retail product which found its way into thousands of supermarkets world-wide. The value of creatives to Lick’s success was huge.
A sold out ‘introduction to…’ evening at Worthing exhibition space Colonnade House turned into an enthusiastic discussion with lots of messages of encouragement for us to continue with the idea. If you’d like to get in touch with your ideas or comments – they are very welcome. We hope to build something that makes a positive addition to the Worthing creative scene.
