We have recently received the exciting news that we are up for a Gatwick Diamond Business award for our unusual and creative contribution to the community.
The unique attribute at Huxley is that staff are encouraged to spend 10% – 20% of their time on community projects. These have included projects to help bees and butterflies, setting up accessible business networking events, and most notably for the Gatwick Diamond judges, two projects that have been in development for the past couple of years;
Worthing & Beyond is a name creatives in Worthing will be familiar with. We founded this online network, which also celebrated at the ‘W&B Summer Event’ in 2021 – where money was raised for local charities, 20 makers set up stalls, and DJ’s & graffiti artists flexed their creative talents – all at a cool new brewery and event space ‘Hand Brew Tap bar’.
Alex Bailey – chief exec at Worthing Council said of W&B: “This is a great project, and is great for the town”. Employees of Gatwick Airport, who interviewed us for the award, congratulated us for finding a truly unique and engaging way to contribute to our community.
Rainbow Rovers are a LGBTQ football team founded by Whitehawk FC. We were happy to sponsor the club, which naturally over time became something more hands on when the idea floated that we could create an accessible website for the team.
We now donate our time regularly, to assist with ongoing digital promotion of the club. Rainbow Rovers champion inclusion in sports, and have a large following of fans including David Shrigley – who designed their club shirts!
Dom said “We’re delighted to be recognised for the time we put into these projects. They started as something we simply enjoyed doing, that contributes to staff wellbeing and of course the community at large. Awards like these are a bonus for us, but very much appreciated, and we’re crossing our fingers that it’s a win for the Huxley team!”
The awards ceremony will take place on 17th March 2022.
